Recording News from Métier: New album of Contemporary Vocal Works

July 29, 2014 | By Divine Art Recording Group - Kathryn Marshall
Executive Assistant
The Métier Records division of Divine Art Recordings Group is preparing a new album of works for voice and electronics featuring Irish soprano Elizabeth Hilliard for release in the spring of 2015. The album is being produced by English composer Christopher Fox, and two of his works feature. Fox is without doubt one of the most original and distinctively creative composers of our day. His music has a wide range of inspiration and experimental techniques, whether in chamber and instrumental music or in his dramatic vocal works. He describes Hilliard as “the most exciting voice and musical intelligence I’ve encountered for many years”, hence his enthusiasm, shared by the label, to produce this recital album. Also included are works by Irish composers: two each by Linda Buckley and Grainne Mulvey: one of Mulvey’s pieces, as yet untitled, is being composed especially for this recording. Another Mulvey composition, this time for solo piano, has been recorded for Métier by Mary Dullea, for an album devoted entirely to Irish piano music which will also be released in the future.

The Elizabeth Hilliard recording is to be scheduled for release in late spring 2015 (Métier MSV 28551) both in CD and in digital download formats.
