HDtracks.com Welcomes World-Renowned Classical Music Label Everest Records in High-Resolution, 96 kHz/24-bit Sound
New York, N.Y.—HDtracks.com, the world’s pre-eminent music downloading Web site, offering spectacular CD and DVD-audio-quality, 96 kHz/24-bit downloads, is pleased to announce the addition of premiere classical music label Everest Records, courtesy of Everest’s owner, Countdown Media, to its ever-growing online store.
Founded in the 1950s by legendary recording engineer and audio writer Bert Whyte, Everest produced its first records on 35mm, three-track tape and issued them on stereo LPs. This magnetic film tape could handle much higher levels than any standard one-quarter-inch or one-half-inch tape, resulting in inaudible hiss levels. Everest also used superior-quality, custom-made U47 tube microphones in a spaced array to capture the orchestras’ powerful sounds in the pristine acoustics of the world’s greatest concert halls. The original master tapes have been utilized in the re-mastering process (overseen by the legendary Bernie Grundman) prior to their release here.
HDtracks’ Everest library begins with albums from the world-class London, Houston and Stadium (a.k.a. the New York Philharmonic) symphony orchestras. Featured conductors include (London) Sir Malcolm Sargent, Tauno Hannikainen, Walter Goehr, Hugo Rignold, Josef Krips and (Houston) Leopold Stokowski.
The London albums include music of Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Beethoven and Khachaturian, while the Houston titles feature works of Scriabin and Bartók. Soloists on the London albums include Tossy Spivakovsky (violin) and Peter Katin (piano).
As with all HDtracks.com album downloads, all Everest titles feature full PDF liner notes to provide context and enrich the listening experience.
“We are pleased to welcome the world-renowned Everest Records label to our ever-expanding classical music library,” said HDtracks.com co-founder David Chesky. “With HDtracks.com, customers will experience these already excellent recordings on a new level of sound quality, purity and clarity.”
