Bellingham Festival of Music Announces 16th Season
BELLINGHAM, WA— The Bellingham Festival of Music returns this summer, July 3rd through July 19th in Bellingham, Washington. Michael Palmer, the Festival’s Artistic Director, will lead the Bellingham Festival Orchestra in a total of five orchestral programs at Western Washington University’s 663-seat Performing Arts Center on Friday, July 3rd; Tuesday, July 7th; Saturday, July 11th; Wednesday, July 15th and Sunday, July 19th. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.
Featured guest soloists for the 2009 Festival are the Romero Guitar Quartet, pianist Stephen Kovecevich, cellist Joshua Roman, soprano Katie Van Kooten, and baritone Charles Robert Stevens.
The Bellingham Festival Chorus will join the Festival Orchestra and vocal soloists Van Kooten and Stephens in the July 11th performance of “A German Requiem” by Johannes Brahms Pianist Kovecevich will perform Mozart's “Piano Concerto #24 in C minor, KV 491” on July 11th, Joshua Roman will perform the “Cello Concerto” of Antonin Dvorak on July 15th. The Romeros will be featured in the Festival's grand finale on July 19th in Federico Moreno Torroba's “Concerto for Four Guitars.”
In addition, the Festival will again present its chamber music program at the Bellingham Yacht Club. Performances will take place Sunday, July 12th (times TBA) featuring the Bellingham Festival Chamber Players, drawn primarily from the Orchestra’s principal chairs.
Tickets to the Festival’s programs go on sale in the Spring of 2009, with ticket prices and purchase information TBA in advance.
