So it was for <em>La Favorite<\/em> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staatsoper.de\/\">Bavarian State Opera<\/a> on Sunday, when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmartandmusic.com\/conductors\/sagripanti\/\">Giacomo Sagripanti<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/clementinemargaine.com\/\">Cl\u00e9mentine Margaine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ludovic_T%C3%A9zier\">Ludovic T\u00e9zier<\/a> made more sense of the music than their counterparts in the 2016 production\u2019s first run (a Deutsche Grammophon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deutschegrammophon.com\/en\/cat\/0735358\">DVD<\/a>) \u2014 conductor Sagripanti instilling new urgency and sweep, Margaine singing magnificently as L\u00e9onor, T\u00e9zier\u2019s Alphonse resonant and incisive. <a href=\"http:\/\/matthewpolenzani.com\/\">Matthew Polenzani<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikakares.net\/\">Mika Kares<\/a> reprised their monastic duties as Fernand and Balthazar, Kares with impressive control of line. Much applause.
