In connection with a new <em>Tannh\u00e4user<\/em>, due May 21, it commissioned for its quarterly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staatsoper.de\/maxjoseph.html\">Max Joseph<\/a> magazine a discussion of Wagner\u2019s <em>bacchanale<\/em> of distant bathing naiads and sedate sirens and downstage (dressed) nymphs. The resulting eleven-section essay by <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.dnb.de\/opac.htm?method=simpleSearch&amp;query=11552634X\">Georg See\u00dflen<\/a>, titled \u201cThe Venusberg of Machines,\u201d imagines <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/bayerischestaatsoper\/docs\/max_joseph_2017-03_lowres_einzel\">robots in place of the various classes of ladies<\/a>, and to ram home this idea BStO further commissioned pictures by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterstyle.eu\/\">Piotr Wyrzykowski<\/a>, the \u201cmedia artist\u201d from Gda\u0144sk. See\u00dflen\u2019s thinking might have been anticipated by <em>Intendant<\/em> Bachler. His book credits include: <em>The Pornographic Film<\/em> (1990), <em>Natural-Born Nazis<\/em> (1996), <em>Orgasm and Everyday Life<\/em> (2000), <em>Quentin Tarantino Against the Nazis<\/em> (2010), <em>Sex Fantasies in the High-Tech World, I to III: Do Androids Dream of Electronic Orgasms?; The Virtual Garden of Pleasures; and Future Sex in Queertopia<\/em> (collectively 2012), and, his latest, <em>Trump! Populism as Policy<\/em>. Wagner\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staatsoper.de\/stueckinfo\/tannhaeuser-1\/2017-05-21-16-00.html\">opera<\/a> will be conducted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewin-management.com\/artists\/26_Kirill+Petrenko\">Kirill Petrenko<\/a> and staged by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/09\/29\/theater\/romeo-castellucci-the-provocative-italian-stage-director.html\">Romeo Castellucci<\/a>, with of course a separate budget and concept. Tickets run as high as \u20ac293 using a new BStO pricing scale.
