During Edna’s 23 years as managing director of IMG Artists, she personally looked after the career of violinist, Itzhak Perlman and launched the careers of musicians such as pianists Evgeny Kissin and Lang Lang, violinist Hilary Hahn, and conductors Franz Welser-Mõst and Alan Gilbert.

Quintet of the Americas Presents Three Concerts in Queens, New York on January 15 and 16

New York, NY – The Quintet of the Americas will perform three Crystal Winter concerts in Queens, New York on Tuesday, January 15 – 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Temple, 86-07 35th Avenue in Jackson Heights, and 1:30 PM at Elm-Cor Senior Center, 98-19 Astoria Blvd., East Elmhurst and on Wednesday, January 16 - 12:15 at Catholic Charities Bayside Senior Center, 221-15 Horace Harding Blvd. in Bayside.
All three programs will feature Winter Music by Adam Schoenberg, commissioned by the Quintet last year. The music will also include popular works such as Let It Snow, Silver Bells, an arrangement of Prokofiev's Troika from Lt. Kije Suite and an improvisation inspired by Van Gogh's painting Starry Night. The program will be accompanied by projected images of crystals, snowflakes, winter scenes and Van Gogh's painting. There will be many opportunities for audience members to join the quintet by playing bells, water glasses and jingling keys.

Internationally known Quintet of the Americas is Queens’ own premiere woodwind quintet. Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the Quintet has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and the Library of Congress. Members of the Quintet are Karla Moe, flute, Matt Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and Maureen Strenge, bassoon. They are currently in residence in The Department of Music and Performing Arts in The Steinhardt School at New York University.
